Project description
The VESIKKO project utilises IoT and sensor technology, which enables the condition of water bodies and fluctuations in their load to be monitored more continuously and accurately than at present. The project will develop a technology and data platform that will enable changes in water body loading to be detected more quickly, their causes to be better understood, and the necessary measures to be taken in good time.
Project objectives
- To build and pilot a smart water body monitoring network consisting of fixed monitoring points and buoy solutions suitable for marine areas.
- To utilise sensor technology and wireless data transmission to produce continuous, real-time measurement data.
- To enable the integration of new measurement data with existing environmental monitoring data, thereby providing a more comprehensive overview of the state of water bodies and variations in pollution loads.
- To investigate and pilot company-specific alert and reporting solutions that support rapid response and decision-making.
- A scalable and expandable pilot environment for new water body monitoring solutions will be created in the KIP area.
