Project description
Expertise network of battery chemistry is based on the National battery strategy 2025 and its visions and goals in the battery value chain, especially in the manufacture of battery chemicals. The goals of the National battery strategy are e.g. expanding core competence in the field, deepening international co-operation, developing a potential environment for investments, promoting responsibility in the battery sector, improving communication and developing financing of battery field. The actors involved in this project will play a key role in bringing together the expertise in battery chemistry and enabling the growth of national expertise. This opens up new opportunities for wider international cooperation and promotes the industry, as well as enables new investments in Finland.
Expertise network of battery chemistry focuses on the strengths of industrial business and research in the participating urban areas (Kokkola, Vaasa, Pori, Turku, Lappeenranta, Jyväskylä and Kuopio). It also implements the goals of smart specialization in accordance with the regional programs. The project will develop national co-operation between actors in the field of battery chemistry, in particular to address common challenges in the field. The aim of the co-operation is the efficient utilization of regional expert resources, the strengthening of regional expertise and the wide-ranging utilization to solve joint challenges related to battery chemistry.
The concrete measures of the project are related to the strengthening and internationalization of state-of-the-art battery chemistry, identification of common research challenges in the regions, preparation of new R&D projects, identification of common competence needs and development of training pathways and development of industrial service concepts. The measures taken will strengthen the competence of urban areas nationally and internationally. In addition, the implementation of the themes defined in the participating urban ecosystem agreements will be specified. In particular related to battery chemistry and the topics supporting it. The efficient use of resources will be promoted. The concrete goals of the project are 1-2 national joint projects to solve the identified challenges and 1-2 potential EU consortium projects for Horizon Europe programs
