Kokkola University Consortium Chydenius organizes open university studies according to the degree requirements of the University of Jyväskylä. Teaching is arranged in Kokkola, Vaasa, and Ylivieska and  by cooperating educational institutes throughout the Central Ostrobothnia region.

The open university of the University Consortium provides subjects diversely from several faculties: humanities, information technology, education, sport and health sciences, mathematics and science, and social sciences. It is possible to take language and communication courses as well as general studies.

Open university studies are open to all regardless of educational background or aims. The studies satisfy various needs:  the students might wish to gain professional  further education, update their skills,  change occupation or learn new things for recreation. In addition, open university provides  a flexible route to a university degree besides work. It is possible to begin studies aiming to a university degree and get expert guidance and counseling at the same time. Functional study counseling is a central part of open university services. We continuously develop our counseling,  and we are prepared to support every student’s individual study path in all stages of studies.
