What did you study?

I studied primary school teachers’ perceptions of assessment in the context of a multidisciplinary learning module, focusing on the significance of assessment, assessment practices, and assessment literacy.

A multidisciplinary learning module is built around two or more subjects, and its goal is to help students grasp the broader picture of the topics being covered.

What were the findings of your study?

The study identified four general approaches to assessment: the nonessential approach, the responsibility approach, the professional competence development approach, and the professional management approach.

How can the findings be applied?

The study’s findings provide a reflective tool for both teachers and student teachers to examine and develop their assessment literacy. The tool can be used to identify existing strengths as well as areas requiring development. The findings also help to develop assessment teaching in both teacher education and continuing education to meet the needs related to assessment competence.

By developing their assessment literacy, teachers can reinforce both their own professional competence and their students’ assessment competence. A multidisciplinary learning module provides a natural environment for this.
