Competitiveness and attractiveness for Central Ostrobothnia by developing cooperation between companies and universities

In a society based on competence, the region's competitiveness arises from the fact that the business life of the region can effectively apply researched knowledge and scientific excellence in its practical activities. If the region wants to succeed in the conditions of an aging society and intensifying competition between regions, it must also develop its attractiveness in the eyes of actors outside the region.
A key role in developing Central Ostrobothnia's competitiveness and attractiveness is the business life, which creates the basis for other social activities, Olli Rosenqvist estimates.
Although Central Ostrobothnia's export industry focused on the production of chemicals and metals and the emerging large-scale industry related to the green transition make use of the latest innovations in their production processes, in order to increase the attractiveness of the province's business culture in the region, more effort should be made than at present not only to motivate the willingness of existing SMEs to develop, but also to create and attract new, knowledge-intensive SMEs to the region.
At best, in cooperation with universities, SMEs could not only promote their competitiveness, but also the region's general willingness and ability to renew itself and become even more multicultural, international, and attractive.
