Project activities at the University Consortium

The projects play a central role in the operation of the University Consortium. Almost half of the University Consortium's funding comes through projects of general benefit or client-funded projects. The social and regional goals of the projects are the development of the competitiveness and innovation capacity of companies and the public sector, and the promotion of the creation of new businesses.

TURKE - Peat production areas for sustainable use

The project examines the suitability of peat production sites for different uses, evaluates their profitability and examines the regional economic and environmental impacts of peat-based value chains.

TUUMA - Peat as a Raw Material for Carbon Applications in Central Ostrobothnia

The aim of TUUMA project is to utilize the peat resources of Central Ostrobothnia in new high added-value products, to identify novel peat-based applications (battery carbon, activated carbon) and to develop feasible conversion methods to them.
