University of Jyväskylä, Social Work/ Kokkola University Consortium Chydenius and Department of Philosophy and Social Sciences organise together a Workshop Philosophy and Social Sciences open for students and further interested participants.

Ecosocial transformation and community development

OBJECTIVES: Students will get aware and deepen their knowledge and methodic capacities in community work and structural social work, as well as social economy and international social work from the perspective of social, ecological and economic sustainability. Understanding of the significant contribution of social work and social welfare to the eco-social transformation of societies will be deepened.

COURSE APPLICATION IN SOCIAL WORK CURRICULUM: STO403 (Rakenteellisen ja yhteisötyön menetelmät) or STO 404 (Yhteisötalous ja yhteiskunnallinen yrittäjyys) or STO840 (International Social Work). Students from other programs may agree about the course HOPS-relevance with their own departments

EXAMINATION: Evaluation 1 – 5 of students Learning Diary (5 pages), based on active participation in the entire course, studying the material of the course and the book given for the course which you select to perform (STOS403: Roivainen ym. Yhteisöt ja sosiaalityö; STOS404 Nyssen & al ; STOS840 Lyons & al) For international students an English book will be made available. Learning diary is due until 15th of November in the Optima folder of KYC and form yfi-students directly to Kati Närhi via email.


CREDITS: 5 ECTS; including min. 16 hours seminar + book + other material = Learning diary

(participants organize their travel themselves, but joint driving with those who need / can offer a lift will start from KYC 2.10. at 12.00 and 3.10. at 8.40)
