PaikuGL project

Genius Loci − The Spirit of Place and Travel in Central Ostrobothnia

The aim of the PaikuGL project is to create travel concepts for the marine and land areas of historical Central Ostrobothnia that utilize both tangible and intangible cultural heritage and can be used by associations, communities and businesses. The travel concepts are based on local cultural heritage sites as well as themes and routes that draw from them . These travel concepts are developed with local actors, such as  homestead associations. In the preparation and publication of the travel concepts, the utilization of information technology and project's research area findings are at the centre.   The philosophy behind the project is the appreciation of cultural heritage and local history. The Genius Loci platform is being developed for the collection, editing and presentation of cultural heritage materials.
