The Business development study programme is intended especially for adult students and prepares for working in demanding development posts that call for broad-based expertise.

The studies focus on comprehensive development of successful business activities with the following key themes:

  • Business management and development is the largest theme area and includes courses both in strategic management and business development as well as in marketing.
  • HR management courses focus on the role of human resources in business development.
  • The third theme deals with responsibility from juridical, ethical and administrative perspectives.

Studying beside work

The studies are designed to be pursued beside work. In practice, the studies combine independent online learning and contact teaching that focuses on collective learning. Contact teaching is organised as intensive periods at the Kokkola University Consortium once a month, mostly in Friday afternoons and on Saturdays. The study programme takes from two and a half to three years to complete.

This study programme, like other teaching provided by the University of Vaasa, is based on scientific research. Teaching focuses on solving practical challenges on the basis of sound theoretical knowledge. At the same time, ongoing dialogue with local businesses ensures that we can offer the latest knowledge for the use of society.
