Quality counts at the Kokkola University Consortium

by Päivi Vuorio — last modified 2008-05-27 13:22

Inspired by the Bologna process and the internationalization of university studies, the universities in Finland have committed themselves to the construction of a quality control system and its implementation in the form of a general audit by the year 2011.

The aim of the system will be to achieve constant development in the universities’ activities in accordance with their stated aims. At the same time purposeful and systematic quality control is looked on as a means of convincing collaborators of the reliability and high quality of the universities’ work.

The Chydenius University Consortium in Kokkola will continue with efforts to develop its quality control system as one part of the drive in that direction undertaken by the University of Jyväskylä as a whole, in which it will be governed by that university’s timetable. The national commission for the evaluation of higher education carried out an audit at the University of Jyväskylä in November 2008.

Each university engaged in activities at the Kokkola University Consortium will be responsible for the quality of its own contribution.
